Unlike a standard fish finder rig where the sinker rides on the main line, the cannon ball rig places the sinker on the short bite leader, keeping the weight close to the hook. That compact setup helps reduce the “helicopter effect” during the cast, giving you a cleaner flight and better distance when you’re trying to reach fish beyond the wash. Once the rig is in the water, the sinker slides freely on the heavy mono bite leader, allowing a bass to grab the bait and move off more naturally.

Built with serious components, this rig features a Gamakatsu 8/0 4X In-Line Circle Hook, 230 lb Spro swivels, and Triple Fish leader material. It’s a strong choice for fishing big baits in rough surf, heavy current, and trophy striper conditions where weak terminal tackle is not an option.
